Will this get you hired?
If you pass the CPC exam afterward, yes — and you skip the two-year apprenticeship most new coders work through. That's the reason to pick it. But the program only launched in 2024, so there's no public data on how its graduates actually do on the CPC exam yet.
What you'll actually experience
One near-graduate says the materials are dense and the experience was positive. A currently-enrolled student in spring 2026 reports recurring quiz-quality problems: typos, incorrectly keyed answers, content showing up on quizzes before it's taught. An outside reviewer flags that several listed courses aren't on the CPC exam. Format is self-paced with minimal instructor involvement.[1][2][3]
What you're betting on
That you can self-direct for 18 months without instructor accountability, that the quiz-quality complaints don't get worse, and that AAPC actually treats the included Practicode hours the way Penn Foster says — skipping the apprenticeship year. NegativeTheir quizzes and exams have a lot of typos, incorrectly keyed answers (so if you give them the correct answer it will mark it as wrong anyway) and sometimes you'll get quizzes that include content that has not yet been covered in the course.
