The Comprehensive Coding & Revenue Integrity Specialist Certificate at Shoreline Community College prepares students for entry-level careers as inpatient and outpatient coders, billers, patient account representatives, and other support positions in various healthcare settings. The program is offered online and covers a wide range of topics including medical and clinical terminology, anatomy and physiology, human diseases, pharmacology, patient medical records interpretation, diagnostic and procedural coding, privacy and security regulations, and healthcare computer applications. Students will also complete a virtual Medical Coding Practicum, coding 50-100 medical charts. Graduates are eligible to take certification exams offered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and the American Academy of Professional Coders. The program requires a grade of 2.0 or better in each course and includes general education core requirements and core program requirements.
