The Medical Assisting Program at Chattanooga State Community College equips students with a range of essential skills in clinical, administrative, and safety practices, along with providing externship opportunities and certification preparation.

• Clinical Practice: Includes exam room techniques, medical terminology, body structure and functioning, medical calculations, pharmacology, first aid, laboratory procedures, and nutrition.
• Administrative Practice: Covers medical office procedures, professional orientation, communication skills in allied health, and medical-specific keyboarding skills.
• Healthcare Safety: Emphasizes occupational risks like exposure to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, ergonomic hazards, and stress, and teaches necessary safety protocols.
